MARSHALLVILLE--- Kenneth C. Shanklin, 61, of 13 W. Market St., died Friday, April 25, 2008, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of State Route 57 and Fulton Road.

Private family services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery near Rittman at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Kenneth was born in Massillon, Ohio, on April 18, 1947, the son of Glendale A. and Marilyn (Getz) Shanklin.

He graduated from Smithville High School and served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968. He was formerly employed by Fetter & Sons and Smithville Manufacturing in Smithville.

He was a member of American Legion Post 282 in Orrville and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by a son, John Shanklin of Marshallville; granddaughter, Marie Shanklin; mother, Marilyn Kelly of Brewster, OH; brothers, Howard (Diane) Shanklin of Orrville, Dale (Stephanie) Shanklin of Canton, and Randy (Sue) Shanklin of Brewster; sisters, Kim (Vince) Harvey of Massillon and Wendy (Mike) Johnson of Ashland; and ex-wife, Mary Shanklin of North Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by his father, sister, Pam Miner, and his former companion, Charlene "Charlie" Bonnet.
